COVID-19 Protocol

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an intense impact on the world. In a time like this, we need to help and support one another more than ever, which is exactly what Hills & Ranges Private will continue to do. Below, we answer some of your most pressing questions regarding our facility and how we are operating during this time of crisis.

Are Rehabs Open During COVID-19?

Yes, rehabilitation facilities are considered an ‘essential service’ by both the federal and state governments and will therefore continue to operate during the pandemic.

Will Hills & Ranges Private Remain Open?

While the country is in lockdown, Hills & Ranges Private remain open and committed to providing the highest quality rehabilitation care and treatment during these difficult times. Indeed, with lockdown in effect, many people in active addiction may find that isolation causes their addiction to worsen, which is why we are continuing our program to treat and heal.

What Makes Hills & Ranges Different from Other Rehabs in This Situation?

Size is everything. We have a huge 300 square-metre facility on a 3-acre site, but we keep it small. Hills & Ranges Private continues to operate our tailored, 6-bed facility in the natural environment of the Dandenong Ranges. We are fully stocked for treatment, with even hundreds of rolls of toilet paper on offer! Seriously though, 6 patients and 2 staff in our huge isolated facility among the fern fronts and eucalypts in the Dandenong Ranges is the perfect place to complete rehabilitation treatment during the COVID 19 lockdown. Far away from stress and pressure, we can safely maintain social distancing in comfort.

Are Rehab Patients Stuck Isolating in The Rehab During Lockdown?

You may wonder what activities we have on-site, and at Hills & Ranges Private, we offer an abundance of pastimes. This includes a fully operational gym and yoga studio, a 65” TV with high-speed internet, Netflix, etc., a PlayStation and many board games, and of course, our large 4-acre property which has opportunities for many activities aside from the primary rehabilitation program. Our clients are never bored.

Are You Still Taking in New Patients?

You may have heard that some rehabs aren’t taking any new patients and may become concerned that during lockdown you could have a problem with drinking too much or taking other substances. At Hills & Ranges Private, we are still taking in new patients during the crisis.

The process for new admissions continues in accordance with state and federal instructions for COVID-19 safety. In this difficult time, we remain committed to providing care to those that need it. All admissions are proceeded by a medical test (conducted on-site by a doctor) to determine if a new client has any pre-existing conditions. This now would also cover COVID-19. The safety and wellbeing of our community are foremost.

What Measures Have You Put into Place to Handle COVID-19 Specifically?

At Hills & Ranges Private, we have undertaken many additional measures to protect patients and staff from all viruses, COVID-19 included. These measures include:

  • Increased the amount of sanitizing, cleaning, wiping of surfaces, door handles, tables, benches, etc.
  • Placed sanitizer at reception for clients to use pre and post appointments
  • Circulating the air and opening up all doors as frequently as possible
  • Single-use paper hand towels in the bathrooms for use
  • Our priority is to maintain the health and wellbeing of everyone we come into contact with, so will keep you updated with any further actions/changes.

We are here to support you during these trying times and provide you with much-needed relief- emotionally and physically. Please feel free to contact our team with any further questions or queries.
